9. When must affected sources show initial compliance?
New or reconstructed affected sources must show initial compliance upon initial startup of the affected source or by October 8, 2003, whichever is later. Existing affected sources must show compliance with the final standards no later than October 9, 2006.
If a new affected source manages remediation material that is a radioactive mixed waste, and its initial startup date is on or before October 8, 2003, the facility must be in compliance with the final rule requirements no later than October 9, 2006.
