6. What are the requirements for remediation material that is shipped off-site?

If remediation material that is required to be managed in remediation material management units or treatment processes equipped with process vents is to b shipped to an off-site facility, certain requirements may have to be met before transferring the material, including maintaining records for the transferred materials

If the average  total volatile organic HAP concentration of the material is greater than or equal to 10 ppmw, then the material can only be transferred to:

• A facility where the remediation material will be directly disposed in a landfill or other land disposal unit,
• A facility where air emissions from the remediation material is controlled per all applicable requirements in this rule for off-site material (written permission is required prior to sending material to this site), or
• A facility where the remediation material will be managed according to all applicable requirements under this rule.

The name, street address and telephone number of the facility where the remediation material is sent must be recorded.
